Dear Parishioners,
Sacred Heart Parish has been a vibrant Catholic community in North Quincy for one hundred and one years. For the past eight and a half years it has been my privilege to serve as your pastor. During this time I have witnessed your strong commitment and generosity in maintaining and improving our parish buildings and property.
In keeping with tradition, our Grand Annual Collection will occur on next weekend, October 2nd and 3rd. The finance council has set a parish goal of $100,000. I ask that you continue to mirror the great generosity of the generations of parishioners who have preceded us.
In the past year numerous improvements were made. The church roof was repaired. New copper downspouts were installed on the church. Two ramps were built in the lower church to improve access to the penance rooms. An improved sound system and two Bose speakers were installed in the main church. Tiles were replaced in two stairways and in two classrooms in our school. The second of our three loans was repaid. All of this was possible by your financial support of our parish.
The spreadsheet below contains the financial report for our church and school for the years 2003 and 2004. I am very grateful to the members of the parish finance council for their time and expertise as we strive to remain good stewards of our parish’s resources.
Our need is great as we begin the second century of Sacred Heart Parish. If each family contributed, our goal would be surpassed. Some parishioners are able to contribute $100, $500, $1,000 or more. Some parishioners may choose to make their Grand Annual Contribution over a number of payments. Whatever amount you choose to contribute, I will be most grateful.
For your convenience, Grand Annual Collection envelopes are available at the rear of the Church if you did not receive one in the mail.
May our participation continue to support our church, school and religious education programs where our Catholic faith is nourished.
Gratefully,
(Rev.) John W. O’Brien
