Cares for the items used at Mass and other liturgies.

Altar Server

Boys and girls from grade 4 and above who assist the priest at the liturgy.

Art & Environment

Prepares and executes decorating of the church for the liturgical seasons.

Baptism Preparation

Preparing parents for the baptismal liturgy and formation of their child’s faith.

Bereavement Support

Meets monthly on the second Wednesday of the month and assists those in the grieving process.

Blessed Virgin Mary Sodality

Fosters devotion to Mary and strives to be a spiritual and financial organization that supports the church with its functions.

Book Club

meets monthly to discuss relevant topics presented in suggested books.

Children’s Liturgy of the Word Presider

Leads the Children’s Liturgy of the Word and prepares a reflection on the Sunday readings.

Chowder and Stations

Held on the Friday evenings of Lent at 6PM in the rectory conference room (dinner) and at 7PM in the lower church (Stations of the Cross).

Clerical

Mailings: provides support for folding, collating, envelope stuffing, etc. on an as-needed basis.
Computer skills: work with document creation and database entry.

Confirmation & Religious Education Teachers

Helps pass on the faith to children in grades 1-10.

Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion

Distributes the Body of Christ to the Body of Christ at Mass and to the sick and homebound.

Eucharistic Adoration

Mondays and Tuesdays from 9:00AM to 5:00PM in Our Lady Chapel. The Blessed Sacrament is exposed and adored by volunteers who sign up for one hour or more to pray before the Lord Jesus present in the monstrance.

Finance Council

Advises the pastor on financial matters of the parish. Responsible for monitoring all income and expenses, and approving the annual budgets.

Food Baskets

Non perishable foods are collected at the back of the church after every Mass and are donated to the Quincy Interfaith Social Services Food Bank..

Funeral Preparation Team

Works directly with families to prepare the funeral liturgy and to accompany them through the funeral rites.

Giving Tree Project

An Advent/Christmas project to support My Brother’s Keeper.

Greater Quincy Men’s Prayer Group

Prays weekly at 6pm on Thursday evenings in the lower church. Mass is celebrated on the firs Thursday of the month.

Greeters

Parish volunteers who assist ushers in warmly welcoming parishioners and guests as they enter the church for Mass.

Home and Hospital Visitation

Volunteer Eucharistic Ministers who bring the Eucharist to registered parishioners who are homebound.

Hospitality Sunday

A ministry on the first Sunday of every month from September through June that is carrieid out by the other ministries of the parish. Each ministry is assigned a month, and prepares/serves coffee and pastries and cleans up after the 4pm and Sunday morning Masses. A great way to get to know one another is when we share food and conversation.

Proclaim the Scripture readings at Sunday Mass and other services.

Legion of Mary

members serve by practicing the spiritual works of mercy directed towards all men and women, young and old, rich and poor.

Liturgy Committee

Is the caretaker of the liturgy. The group prepares the Mass and seasons according to instructions in the Church's liturgical books.

Monthly Dinner Committee

Volunteers who prepare and serve inexpensive, yet tasty meals that promote fellowship among parishioners throughout the year.

Adult Choir: Rehearsals Thursday evenings at 7:30pm in the choir loft and 10:30am Sunday Mass, Sept-June.
Children's Choir: Rehearsals Thursday evenings at 6:30pm in the choir loft and 9am Sunday Mass on the first Sunday of the month, Sept-June.
Baptismal Schola: sings on the 4th Sunday of the month at the baptismal liturgy.
Summer Pickup Choir: sings at the 10:30am Mass July & August.
ChoirChimes: Rehearsals Wednesday evenings at 6pm in the choir loft and play for special liturgies (i.e. Christmas, Holy Week).
Children's Choir Fest: Monday, July 30 through Friday, August 3, 2012. A week-long experience of music, prayer, food, and fun for children in grades 2-8.

North Quincy Catholic Women's Club

All women are welcome! Gatherings are on occasion and announced in the bulletin and in this space when scheduled. For more information, please email womensgroup@parish.org. Babysitting is available.

A group that counts the funds collected at Mass each week and prepares the bank deposits.

Parish Pastoral Council

The PPC is involved in strategic planning and most activities and programs effecting the liturgical and spiritual life of Sacred Heart Parish.

Protecting God’s Children

All of the clergy, office staff, and every volunteer is required to attend a Virtus—Protecting God’s Children training session, an archdiocese sponsored program which teaches an awareness of those persons and situations which could endanger our children. The state also requires volunteers to submit a yearly CORI form.

RCIA

Rite of Christian Initiation – preparation of adult candidates for Catholic sacraments.

Recording Ministry

Helps to prepare audio recordings of Mass for distribution to the housebound and posting to the parish website.

Sacred Heart of Jesus Prayer Group

Prays weekly on Wednesday mornings in the lower church meeting room.

St. Vincent de Paul Society

Strives to administer to the poor and needy of the parish. The work of the society is funded by contributions and a yearly second collection.

Senior Altar Server

Men and women who assist at Mass or Funeral Masses to enhance the worship of our faith community.

A newly formed group to put our Catholic faith into practical action for the good of the poor and those in need.

Ushers

Assist people to their seat if necessary.They take up the offertory collection at Mass and greet those on their way into the church for Mass.

Vocation Crucifix

Rotating list of volunteers who pray for vocations to the priesthood and religious life.

Web site Development

Creates and maintains the parish’s Internet web site.

“Why Catholic?” Team

Coordinates the parish’s implementation of the new Archdiocesan program created by Renew International, the developers of the ARISE Together in Christ process.
