April 2006 Meeting Minutes

The meeting began with a Scripture reading and the Centennial Prayer.

Minutes of March 21 meeting were accepted.

One On One
In order to get a feeling for the upcoming Fall Listening Session, we broke into small groups to discuss what we like/disliked about Sacred Heart Parish.  This was very interesting and informative. 

Some of the general comments were:

• A family oriented parish
• Beautiful liturgies
• Welcoming and recognition of each other
• Openness
• Deep awareness of children-CLOW

Mission Statement
There is a committee who will review and come to a consensus on the mission statement.

Adult Education
a) Listening Session: Norma Murphy is heading the committee. The tentative dates are either October 17 or 19 at 6:00 PM.  Refreshments will be served.

There are several lead people who will be assisting:
• Communication-Howard
• Survey-TBA
• Prizes-TBA
• Finance-John Princiotto
• Food-TBA
• Mailing-TBA
• Logistics-Rick Latham
• Training-Mary Beth O’Sullivan 
The committee will continue to meet twice a month.

b) Film Discussions: will continue on the first Wednesday of the month.

c) The Book Discussion group will meet on April 30 from 7PM until 8:30PM. There will be a discussion on the book “When Bad Things Happen to Good People” in the lower church. An item will be placed in the bulletin.

 d) Evaluation of the Holy Week Teaching on April 1- Everyone was impressed with the program.

e) Parish or city-wide presentation of Catholic social teaching by Fr. Thomas Massaro- we will try to involve more than one church.

Items
a) Transparency Project:
- the Cardinal wants to implement
- Designed to show distribution of monies
- Develop a plan- balanced budget
- Reorganize the central administration

b) Virtus Training  for Sacred Heart will be held again

c)  Quincy Catholic men’s evening of prayer will be held in the fall.

d)  Food drive for Germantown will be held in July by Sacred Heart Parish. Other parishes will have drives through out the year.

e) New members for the council- Some people are at the end of their term.

Critique of Lenten Retreat: Everyone found it meaningful. People felt the theme was disjointed and the service a bit long.

The meeting closed with a prayer.
