May 2006 Meeting Minutes
Minutes from the meeting held on May 23.
The meeting began with a Scripture reading and the Parish Prayer.
Minutes of April 25 meeting were accepted.
Mission Statement
has been slightly changed -
“Sacred Heart Parish, in communion with the Roman Catholic Church throughout the world, seeks to serve the people of North Quincy and Squantum, believes in Jesus Christ, is nourished by the Eucharist, and seeks a deeper understanding of Jesus’ Gospel. We strive to be an effective sign of Jesus’ presence within our society through the ministries of education within our parish school and religious education program, and through service and hospitality to all.”
Adult Education
a) Listening Session
Norma Murphy is heading the committee. The date is October 17 at 6:00 PM. Refreshments will be served. There are several pead people who will be assisting:

• Survey- Dan Ladik
• Prizes- Terry Pecevich
• Finance-John Princiotto
• Food- Rosemary Kubera and committee
• Mailing-TBA
• Logistics-Rick Latham
• Training-Mary Beth O’Sullivan
The committee will continue to meet twice a month.
b) Film Discussions: will continue on the first Wednesday of the month. The film for June is "Redemption."
c) The book discussion group will meet for a discussion on the book “The Chosen” in the lower church. It will take place on June 4 at 7:00pm in the lower church.
d) Parish or city wide presentation of Catholic social teaching by Fr. Thomas Massaro, will be held on November 15 at 7:30. We will invite all the Catholic parishes of Quincy.
e) Morning Day of Prayer for liturgical ministers will be held on September 23 after the 9:00 am Mass with St. Ann Parish ministers.
Items
a) Pilgrimage of Repentance and Hope: The Novena to the Holy Spirit with Cardinal Sean.
b) Child Abuse Prevention (CAP) Team will have a 2 day training program at the seminary
c) Quincy Catholic Men’s Evening of Prayer will be held on Thursday, November 30. Father Bill Kelly will lead the group.
d) Food drive for Germantown will be held in July by Sacred Heart Parish. Other parishes will have drives through out the year.
e) New members for the council-- We will be looking for new members.
The meeting closed with a prayer.
Those in attendance were Rosemary Kubera, Rose Mary Feeney, John Princietto, Howard Lotis, Margaret Kinsella, Deacon John Salenius, Father O’Brien, and Mary Beth O’Sullivan.
