Parish Pastoral Council
March 2007 Meeting Minutes
Minutes from the meeting held on March 27, 2007
The meeting began with a Scripture reading and the parish prayer.
Evaluation and Sharing Ideas on Youth Ministry presentation by Steve Colella
Everyone was very positive about the presentation. We will work with Steve Colella to offer a complete parish wide process for starting a Youth Ministry program. There will be four phases for educating our parishioners. In Phase One, we will commission an Event Team. We will then set a meeting date in October for John Bettinelli. John will explain the program and how to be involved. Adults will be invited to assist in the meeting for that night only. We will spread out responsibility so no one person is overburdened. Each person will be given a specific assignment. The tasks will be clarified for people and include a timeframe so that they know their assignment has a beginning and an end--and it is a short timeframe.
Implementation of Process for Youth Ministry
The next step is how to attract people to participate. We have put together a Steering Committee for Youth Ministry. The members are: Father O’Brien, Norma Murphy, Rosemary Kubera, Marge O’Day, Dan Ladik and Julia Greene.
Update on Survey/Listening Session for Liturgy
We will be placing inserts in the bulletin. These inserts are to help educate people on what and why we are doing certain things in the church. It will be an ongoing educational process. Inserts will contain information about various topics e.g. the Sacraments.
Update on Survey/Listening Session for Community/Social Activities
We talked about some family activities that we as a parish could participate in. We are looking into Brockton Rox Baseball tickets.
Feedback on Lenten Retreat
Most felt that the speakers were thought provoking. About 75 people attended the AM sessions and about 50 were part of the PM sessions.
Good Friday Memorial Walk Por Cristo
One could participate by walking and/or sponsoring.
Other Issues
Interfaith Group has been reestablished. The group works with Dove, Father Bill’s, and Quincy Crisis. The Protestant chaplain position at Quincy Medical Center has been saved through this group.
The meeting closed with a prayer.
Those in attendance were: Norma Murphy, Julia Greene, Mary Beth O’Sullivan, Father O’Brien, Judy O’Toole, Howard Lotis, Debbie Reardon, Carol DeSouza, Martin Mulvey, Ilene Squires, Father McGowan, Joan Matthews and Margaret Kinsella.
The next Parish Council meeting will be held on April 24, 2007 at 7:30 PM at the rectory.
